Local bed bug specialists
ThermoPest provides bed bug heat treatment across Cardiff, from the student streets of Cathays and Roath to the terraces of Canton and Splott and the flats and hotels around Cardiff Bay. We are based in London and have no local office in Wales: we travel from London to Cardiff to treat homes, rented flats, shared houses and businesses, and plan each job around the property and where bed bugs have been found.
Bed bugs are our specialist area, not one of many general pest services. ThermoPest is a BPCA and NPTA member, and our technicians use professional heat equipment with live temperature monitoring to target adults, nymphs and eggs. We give clear preparation and aftercare advice, and qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee.

How it works
Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Our technicians place temperature probes in the places bed bugs favour, such as mattress seams, bed frames, skirting boards and sofa joints, and watch the readings live so no room is left short.
A typical Cardiff job might be a bay-fronted Victorian terrace in Cathays let as a student house, with bedrooms on two floors and a converted attic. We plan the heat room by room so every floor reaches temperature, and we give housemates and landlords clear preparation advice before the day.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. Qualifying treatments are covered by our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Much of Cardiff’s housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, built close together with shared party walls. In Cathays and Roath many of these are let as student houses for Cardiff University students, so bedrooms change hands every year and furniture, mattresses and luggage move in and out each September. Bed bugs travel easily in belongings, which is why an infestation in one room of a shared house can soon reach others, or the house next door.
Cardiff is also the capital of Wales and a major events city. Matches and concerts at the Principality Stadium, along with shopping trips and conferences, bring large numbers of visitors to city-centre hotels, guest houses and short-stay flats. Busy rooms with a high turnover of guests need regular checks and staff who know the early signs.
Elsewhere, apartment blocks around Cardiff Bay and converted flats in Canton and Grangetown share corridors, walls and service risers, so a problem in one flat can affect neighbours. If you notice bites, small blood spots on bedding or dark marks along mattress seams, act early: a small infestation is quicker and less disruptive to treat.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Cardiff starts from £895. The final price depends on the size and layout of the property, how far the infestation has spread and how much preparation is needed. A student house in Cathays or Roath with five or six let bedrooms takes more equipment and time than a one-bedroom flat in Cardiff Bay, and a flat above a shop or a terrace on a street with permit parking can affect how we set up on the day.
We confirm the price after a survey or a detailed conversation about the property, so landlords, tenants and businesses know what is included before we travel from London. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See our bed bug treatment prices for what is included and the full guarantee terms.
Reviews
I was dealing with bed bugs at one of our properties for months, companies were taking advantage and trying to over charge. Once I called these they gave me a great price. They came by they did a head to toe inspection and got rid of the bed bugs in one visit. Definitely recommend this company.

We contacted ThermoPest for bed bug treatment in London after finding signs of activity at home. The technicians recommended a heat treatment, which was perfect for us as we wanted to avoid chemicals. The process was efficient, discreet, and cleared the problem in just one visit.

I had a small infestation of bed bugs at my home in Hammersmith, ThermoPest checked our place thoroughly and sorted our bug issue in one visit. 2 months later and still no issues, but having the guarantee is still helpful peace of mind.

Councils in Wales set their own pest control services and charges, and these can change, so check Cardiff Council’s website for what it currently offers. Some councils do not treat bed bugs at all, or offer limited visits. As a private specialist we focus on bed bugs and use heat treatment with live temperature monitoring. Our council vs private treatment guide explains the differences.
In Wales, most renting is covered by the Renting Homes (Wales) Act, and landlords must keep a home fit to live in. Who pays for bed bug treatment often depends on when and how the infestation started, so tell your landlord or letting agent in writing as soon as you spot signs. We can provide treatment paperwork for both landlord and tenant.
Yes. Shared student houses in Cathays and Roath are a common type of property for us. We travel from London to Cardiff and work with students, landlords and letting agents, treating every affected room so bed bugs are not simply pushed from one bedroom to the next. We give housemates clear preparation advice before the day.
Yes. We treat hotel rooms, guest houses and short-stay flats in the city centre and around Cardiff Bay, arriving in discreet unmarked vans. We plan treatment around bookings where possible and advise staff on the checks that help spot early signs.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. A large student house with several let rooms may need longer, and some properties need a return visit. Read how long professional bed bug treatment takes for more detail.
Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. If live bed bug activity is found within 12 weeks, we come back and deal with it under the guarantee terms. See our pricing and guarantee page for what qualifies.
