Local bed bug specialists
ThermoPest provides specialist bed bug heat treatment in Reading across Whitley, Earley and Caversham and surrounding areas. We work with homeowners, tenants, landlords, letting agents and student-accommodation providers, treating homes, flats, shared houses, HMOs and managed accommodation with a heat-led approach tailored to the property and infestation. Reading’s university and commuter-rental market includes flats, shared housing and family homes across Whitley, Earley and Caversham.
As bed bug specialists and BPCA and NPTA members, we use professional heat equipment, temperature probes and live monitoring throughout treatment. This allows our technicians to verify treatment temperatures across the property while targeting adult bed bugs, nymphs and eggs. Our heat-led treatment plans include tailored aftercare and further treatment where required. Qualifying whole-property treatments carry a 12-week treatment guarantee, subject to the terms.

How it works
Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Temperature probes placed in beds, furniture and along skirting boards give live readings, so your technician can see when every area has reached and held treatment temperature.
A typical Reading job might be a one- or two-bedroom apartment in a modern block near the station, where heat needs to reach built-in wardrobes, bed bases and sofa frames. In shared blocks we also advise on checking neighbouring flats. Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise.
We send clear preparation steps before the visit and leave you with aftercare advice. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Reading is one of the busiest commuter towns in the South East, with fast trains to London and a large business and technology sector of its own. Many residents spend time on trains, in offices and in hotels for work, and bags, coats and luggage that move between these places can carry bed bugs back home without anyone noticing.
The town has a large rental market. Students at the University of Reading live in shared houses in Earley and Whitley, while young professionals rent flats in modern apartment blocks near the station and town centre. Older parts of Reading, including Caversham and the streets around the centre, have Victorian terraces, some of which have been divided into flats or let as HMOs, where bed bugs can pass between rooms that share walls.
Tilehurst and Woodley add many family homes, where problems often start after a holiday, a house move or a piece of second-hand furniture. If you notice bites, blood spots on sheets or small dark marks along mattress seams, act early, as treatment is simpler before bed bugs spread through the home.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Reading starts from £895. The price depends on the size of the property, how many rooms are affected and how much furniture needs heating. A town-centre apartment is usually simpler than a Whitley or Earley HMO with several let rooms, or a larger family home in Caversham or Woodley.
Access matters too, such as parking near town-centre apartment blocks or carrying equipment to upper floors. We confirm the price once we understand the property, and qualifying treatments include our 12-week guarantee. See our bed bug treatment prices for more detail.
Reviews
We’d been dealing with bed bugs for a couple of months in our London flat and it was a nightmare. At first, we tried sprays and DIY methods, but the problem just kept coming back. We were honestly at the point of thinking we’d have to replace our mattress and furniture.
That’s when a friend recommended ThermoPest. From the start, they were really reassuring and explained how their bed bug heat treatment in London works. The technicians arrived on time, set everything up, and were very professional throughout.

I had a bed bug issue in my London flat for around six months. Rentokil carried out five spray treatments but failed to resolve the problem. Thermopest came out and eliminated the infestation in just one visit using heat treatment. Gavin was easy to deal with throughout the process.

It depends on the tenancy and how the bed bugs arrived. Landlords are often responsible where an infestation was there before the tenant moved in or is spreading through the building, while a tenant may be asked to pay if they brought bed bugs in. In apartment blocks and converted houses, nearby flats may also need checking, so tell your landlord or managing agent early. Our guide on what to do if your landlord won’t treat bed bugs sets out the steps.
