Local bed bug specialists
ThermoPest’s bed bug specialists cover Cowley, Headington and Jericho and surrounding areas, providing specialist bed bug heat treatment in Oxford for homeowners, tenants, landlords, letting agents and student-accommodation providers. We treat homes, flats, shared houses, HMOs and managed accommodation, with each job planned around the property layout and where bed bug activity is present. Oxford sources identify Cowley, Headington and Jericho as established student-housing areas, alongside family homes, flats and private rentals.
Our treatments are carried out by dedicated bed bug technicians from a BPCA- and NPTA-member company. We use professional heat equipment and monitor temperatures throughout the treatment so heat reaches the areas bed bugs use as harbourage, targeting every life stage including eggs. Our heat-led treatment plans include tailored aftercare and further treatment where required. Qualifying whole-property treatments carry a 12-week treatment guarantee, subject to the terms.

How it works
Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Temperature probes placed in beds, furniture and along skirting boards give live readings, so your technician can see when every area has reached and held treatment temperature.
A common Oxford example is a Victorian terrace in Cowley let to four or five students, with bedrooms on two floors and a shared living room. We heat each affected room and its furniture, and check along skirting boards and between rooms where bed bugs tend to travel. Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise.
You get clear preparation steps before we arrive and aftercare advice when we leave. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Oxford’s housing is older than in many cities. Jericho, Cowley Road, east Oxford and parts of Headington are full of Victorian terraces, and Summertown has larger period houses, many of which are now divided into flats or let as shared houses. Timber floors, built-in cupboards and gaps behind skirting boards give bed bugs plenty of places to hide.
The city has a large and constantly changing renting population. Students at the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes, researchers on short contracts and hospital staff often move every year or two, and beds and furniture move with them. A shared house can pick up bed bugs from one person’s luggage and spread them to every room before anyone realises what the bites are.
Oxford is also one of England’s best-known places to visit, with guests staying in hotels, guest houses and short-let flats around the centre and along the main roads in. If you notice bites, blood spots on bedding or small dark marks along mattress seams, act early, as treatment is quicker before bed bugs settle in.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Oxford starts from £895. The price depends on the size of the property, how many rooms are affected and how much furniture needs heating. A flat in Headington is a smaller job than a three-storey terrace in Jericho or Summertown, or a student house with several let rooms.
Access and parking also count. Many central Oxford streets have permit parking and narrow access, and period houses often have steep staircases. We confirm the price once we understand the property, and qualifying treatments include our 12-week guarantee. Read more about our bed bug treatment prices.
Reviews
Gavin was great, was able to get me a next day heat treatment. Its been a week and no bed bugs, so fingers crossed it worked.

Very good service for a very nasty job. Would be very happy to recommend them to friends and colleagues.

Unlucky, I found some bed bugs in one of my bed rooms. Luckily, I found James’ contact number, I called him and explained the situation, he gave me very reasonable quotation and guaranteed that he will solve the problem. He came next day giving first treatment and came again after 7 days. After two treatments, the bed bugs were all killed and I never had the same issue again.
I am so pleased with their professional service, and high recommend him to anyone who has the same problem.

Landlords are often responsible where an infestation was there before the tenant moved in or is spreading through the building, while a tenant may be asked to pay if they brought bed bugs in. Many Oxford lets are older terraces or shared houses, so speak to your landlord or letting agent early. Our guide on what to do if your landlord won’t treat bed bugs sets out the steps.
