Expert Bed Bug Control in Bristol

ThermoPest provides specialist bed bug heat treatment in Bristol for homeowners, tenants, landlords, letting agents and student-accommodation providers, with local coverage including Clifton, Easton and Bedminster. We treat bed bugs in homes, flats, shared houses, HMOs and managed accommodation, adapting the treatment plan to the property layout and the areas where activity has been found. Clifton is closely associated with the University of Bristol, while Easton and Bedminster broaden the service area across rented flats, shared homes and family properties.

As bed bug specialists and BPCA and NPTA members, we use professional heat equipment, temperature probes and live monitoring throughout treatment. This allows our technicians to verify treatment temperatures across the property while targeting adult bed bugs, nymphs and eggs. Our heat-led treatment plans include tailored aftercare and further treatment where required. Qualifying whole-property treatments carry a 12-week treatment guarantee, subject to the terms.

How it works

Our Proven Bed Bug Heat Treatment Process

Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Temperature probes placed in beds, furniture and along skirting boards give live readings, so your technician can see when every area has reached and held treatment temperature.

Many Bristol jobs are in converted Victorian houses, such as a Redland or Clifton villa divided into flats. We concentrate heat in the affected flat, take care around period features like timber floorboards and original skirting, and look for any signs that bed bugs have moved towards neighbouring flats. Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise.

Before we arrive we send clear preparation steps, and afterwards we give you aftercare advice for the weeks that follow. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight

Local Bed Bug Insights for Bristol Residents

Much of Bristol was built in the Victorian era, and areas such as Easton, St Pauls, Montpelier, Redland and Bedminster are lined with terraces and tall houses that have since been divided into flats. Shared walls, old floorboards and gaps around pipes give bed bugs routes between rooms and between neighbours, so a problem in one flat is not always only that flat’s problem.

Bristol is a city of renters. Students at the University of Bristol and UWE move between shared houses each year, and young professionals often rent rooms or flats near the centre. Second-hand furniture is popular, from charity shops on Gloucester Road to sofas collected through online listings, and it is one of the easiest ways for bed bugs to arrive unnoticed.

The city also welcomes visitors all year round, for the harbourside, Clifton, festivals and events, and many stay in short-let flats. If you notice bites, blood spots on bedding or small dark marks on mattress seams, act early, before the bugs settle into the rest of the home.

Pricing

How Much Does Bed Bug Treatment Cost in Bristol

Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Bristol starts from £895. The price depends on the size and layout of the property, how many rooms are affected and how much furniture needs heating. A one-bedroom flat in Bedminster is a smaller job than a five-bedroom student house in Redland or a tall Clifton house over several floors.

City-centre access and parking also matter, especially for flats above shops in areas like Stokes Croft or along Gloucester Road. We confirm the price once we know the property, and qualifying treatments include our 12-week guarantee. Find out more about our bed bug treatment prices.

What Our Customers Say

I feel incredibly fortunate to have found this service. This company has been able to deal with the bed bug issue very effectively.
James who initially came out was very professional and the teams work has been a relief after trying another company (with a big name) which had failed to get us rid of the bugs and have charged us an arm and a leg without any guarantee.
Great customer service, a guarantee and are very flexible. I highly recommend their service to anyone who is dealing with that type of issue. Thank you so much for all your help.

Suzanne Donnelly

Gavin and his team did an amazing job treating my house for bed bugs. I am grateful for their expertise and highly recommend their services.

Sarah Metcalfe

I honestly couldn’t recommend ThermoPest Bed Bug Treatments London more highly. When we first discovered we had bed bugs, we used a different company who failed to get rid of them and left us feeling really anxious that the problem was going to be hard (and expensive) to solve. They were going to charge almost the same again to come back, so we started looking elsewhere.

I called Gavin at ThermoPest, and right away he reassured me over the phone and gave me loads of helpful advice. He came out the very next day, was calm, kind, and put our minds at ease. What stood out most was how honest he was — it was clear he wasn’t just trying to take our money if it wasn’t necessary.

The bugs are now completely gone, and we were left well informed throughout the process. Best of all — we didn’t have to throw anything away!

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Huge thanks again to Gavin and the team at ThermoPest!

Jade Curtis

Moved in to a house where there were bedbugs and Jamie came round the next day to have a look. He started the treatment that day and the heat treatment came came out a few days later. They got rid of them and the lovely lady in the office also put up with my constant texts looking for advice and reassurance. Thanks a million will definitely recommend you 100%

Can Bristol City Council help with bed bugs?

Council pest control services vary and can change, so check Bristol City Council’s website for what it currently offers and any charges. Many people choose a specialist for heat treatment. Our guide to council vs private bed bug treatment explains the differences.

Who pays for bed bug treatment in a rented Bristol flat?

It depends on the tenancy and how the bed bugs arrived. Landlords are often responsible where an infestation was there before the tenant moved in or is spreading through the building, while a tenant may be asked to pay if they brought bed bugs in. Many Bristol rentals are converted Victorian houses, so neighbouring flats may need checking too. Our guide on what to do if your landlord won’t treat bed bugs sets out the steps.

Do you treat student houses in Redland and Clifton?

Yes. We treat student lets and HMOs used by students at the University of Bristol and UWE, in Redland, Clifton, Easton and across the city. Every bedroom and shared room usually needs to be included, and we give clear preparation advice to all housemates.

Do you treat Airbnb and short-let flats in Bristol?

Yes. We treat short-let flats and holiday lets around the harbourside, Clifton and the city centre, and we arrive in discreet unmarked vans. We plan the work around your bookings and advise on checks between guests.

Do you have an office in Bristol, and how long does treatment take?

Yes, we have a Bristol office, and our technicians come to your home or business. Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. See how long professional bed bug treatment takes for more detail.

Is your Bristol bed bug treatment guaranteed?

Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. If live bed bug activity is found within 12 weeks of a qualifying treatment, we return under the terms of the guarantee. See our pricing and guarantee page for full details.
