How it works
Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Our technicians place temperature probes in the places bed bugs favour, such as mattress seams, bed frames, skirting boards and sofa joints, and watch the readings live so no room is left short.
A typical Hull job might be a terraced student house off Newland Avenue, with bedrooms on two floors and a mix of beds, desks and stored belongings. We plan the heat room by room so every bedroom reaches the same temperature, and we give tenants and landlords clear preparation advice before we travel out.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. Qualifying treatments are covered by our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Much of Hull’s housing is terraced, from the long Victorian and Edwardian streets of The Avenues and around Newland Avenue to the older terraces closer to the city centre. Many of these houses have been split into flats or let as shared homes, and bed bugs can move between rooms and neighbouring properties through gaps around pipes, floorboards and shared walls.
The University of Hull brings a large student population, and many students rent shared houses in the streets around Cottingham Road and Newland Avenue. When tenants change each summer, furniture, mattresses and belongings move with them, which is a common way for bed bugs to arrive. Landlords and letting agents benefit from acting quickly when a tenant reports bites.
Hull is also a port city, with ferry passengers, visitors and workers staying in hotels and short lets in the city centre. Bed bugs often travel in luggage and second-hand furniture, so if you notice bites, small blood spots on bedding or dark marks along mattress seams, early treatment is quicker and less disruptive.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Hull starts from £895. The final price depends on the size and layout of the property, how far the infestation has spread and how much preparation is needed. A student HMO near the university with several let rooms, or a large Avenues terrace split into flats, takes more equipment and time than a two-bedroom house in Hessle or Anlaby. Parking and access in the city centre, and the travel out from London, are also part of the plan.
We confirm the price after a survey or a detailed conversation about the property, so landlords and tenants know what is included before we start. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See our bed bug treatment prices for what is included and the full guarantee terms.
Reviews
I didn’t end up using the service because when I called, Gavin took the time to talk me through how to check for bed bugs myself. Turns out, it wasn’t bed bugs causing the itching after all.
Every other company we spoke to seemed ready to jump straight into treatment without really assessing the situation, but Gavin was honest and helpful from the start. He shared loads of useful info over the phone, and I’m really grateful for his time. Thanks again!

I rarely leave reviews, but the service I got from ThermoPest was brillaint. My flat in Notting Hill had a stubborn bed bug issue that two previous companies failed to get rid of. ThermoPest were different – super thorough, really respectful of the property, and most importantly, the bed bugs are GONE.

I was skeptical about heat treatments for bed bug extermination, but Gavin at ThermoPest reassured me every step of the way. I live in a flat in central London, and the infestation was starting to spread to other rooms. The team acted quickly and discreetly, and the results speak for themselves—complete removal in one session.

Council pest control services vary and can change, so it is worth checking with Hull City Council directly, or East Riding of Yorkshire Council if you live in Hessle or Anlaby. Many people choose a specialist for heat treatment. Our guide to council vs private bed bug treatment explains the differences.
It depends on the tenancy and how the bed bugs arrived. Landlords are often responsible where an infestation was present before the tenant moved in or is linked to the building, while a tenant may be asked to pay if they brought bed bugs in. We provide treatment documentation for both landlords and tenants.
Yes. We treat student lets and HMOs in the streets around Cottingham Road, Newland Avenue and The Avenues. We give clear preparation advice to every housemate, as all rooms in a shared house usually need to be included for the treatment to work well.

Most treatments are completed within a day, depending on the size of the property and how many rooms are affected. You can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. We travel out from London, so we plan the day carefully before we arrive.
