Local bed bug specialists
ThermoPest provides bed bug heat treatment for homes, rented flats and student lets across Plymouth, from the terraces of Mutley and Stonehouse to Devonport, Plympton and Plymstock. We are based in London and do not have a local office in Plymouth, so we travel out to treat there, bringing our own heat equipment and technicians to every job.
Bed bugs are our specialist area. We plan each treatment around the property, whether that is a shared student house near the University of Plymouth, a converted Victorian terrace split into flats or a family home on the edge of the city. ThermoPest is a BPCA and NPTA member, and qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee.

How it works
Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C. Our technicians place temperature probes where bed bugs hide, such as mattress seams, bed frames, skirting boards and sofa joints, and watch the readings live so no room is left short.
A typical Plymouth job might be a Victorian terrace in Mutley that has been converted into a student HMO, with let rooms on three floors and a shared kitchen and lounge. We plan the heat room by room so the top floor and ground floor reach the same temperature, and we give tenants and landlords clear preparation and aftercare advice. In converted flats we may also recommend checking neighbouring flats.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. Qualifying treatments are covered by our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Plymouth has a large rented housing market, with many University of Plymouth students living in shared houses around Mutley, North Hill and Greenbank. Rooms in these homes change hands every year, and bed bugs can arrive in luggage, bedding or second-hand furniture when people move in and out. Older Victorian terraces in Stonehouse and Devonport are often split into flats, so a problem in one flat can spread to the next through shared walls, floors and stairwells.
As a naval city and a ferry port, Plymouth also sees plenty of people coming and going, from service personnel and their families moving between postings to holidaymakers staying in guest houses and hotels near the Hoe and the Barbican. Frequent travel and regular house moves give bed bugs more chances to hitch a ride into a new home.
If you notice bites, small blood spots on bedding or dark marks along mattress seams, act early. A small infestation is quicker and less disruptive to treat than one that has spread through a whole house or building.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in Plymouth starts from £895. The final price depends on the size and layout of the property, how far the infestation has spread and how much preparation is needed. A student HMO in Mutley with five or six let rooms, or a tall terrace in Stonehouse split into flats, takes more equipment and time than a two-bedroom house in Plympton or Plymstock. Hilly streets and tight on-street parking near the city centre can also affect how we set up on the day.
We confirm the price after a survey or a detailed conversation about the property, so landlords and tenants know what is included before we travel out. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See our bed bug treatment prices for what is included and the full guarantee terms.
Reviews
Everything was handled seamlessly, great communication and outcome.
Madalina Stefania
We ended up needing bed bug heat treatment in London after bringing some home from a hotel stay. Luckily we spotted it pretty quick, so it wasn’t a full on infestation. The guys came round, checked it out and said it only needed a spray which sorted it fast.
They were friendly, explained what they were doing and didn’t make a big drama out of it. Glad we called them when we did, saved us from a much bigger problem. Thanks

I would really recommend ThermoPest Bed Bug Treatments London and Gavin. Our issue was resolved really efficiently, and they were very communicative. They made my parents feel so comfortable, and really explained the entire process to us.

FAQs
Can’t see your question? Call 0808 189 2310 and speak to a specialist.
Some councils offer or refer pest control services and others do not, and what is available can change. It is worth checking with Plymouth City Council first. If they cannot help, or you want a specialist heat treatment, we can travel out to treat your home. Our council vs private treatment guide explains the differences.
It depends on your tenancy and how the infestation started. Landlords are often responsible where bed bugs were present before you moved in or spread from another flat in the building. Tell your landlord or letting agent in writing as soon as you notice signs, and keep photos. We can work directly with landlords and agents and provide a written report after treatment.
Yes. We treat shared student houses and HMOs in Mutley, North Hill, Greenbank and across the city. We give tenants and landlords clear preparation advice before the visit, and we plan the heat so every let room and shared space is covered.
Yes. We treat hotels, guest houses and holiday lets, and we use discreet unmarked vans so guests and neighbours need not know. We plan the work around your bookings and can treat individual rooms or the wider building, depending on how far the problem has spread.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. Larger homes, HMOs and buildings with several flats can take longer, and a return visit is sometimes needed. Read how long professional bed bug treatment takes for more detail.
Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. If live bed bug activity returns within 12 weeks of a qualifying treatment, we will come back as set out in our terms. See our pricing and guarantee page for full details.
