Bed bugs are our specialist area rather than one of many general pest-control services. ThermoPest is a BPCA- and NPTA-member company, and our technicians use professional heat equipment with live temperature monitoring to target adults, nymphs and eggs. Our heat-led treatment plans include tailored aftercare and further treatment where required. Qualifying whole-property treatments carry a 12-week treatment guarantee, subject to the terms.

How it works
From a seafront guest house in Eastbourne to a family home in Lewes, our treatment across East Sussex is led by heat. Bed bugs and their eggs die when held above about 50°C for long enough. We heat rooms to 50–60°C and hold that heat until the hardest-to-reach spots stay above 50°C.
In a tall Victorian house in Hastings that has been converted into flats, bed bugs can hide in old floorboards, skirting boards and around fitted furniture. We put sensors in those spots and keep the heat on until every reading stays above 50°C. For guest accommodation in Bexhill or Seaford, we plan the work around rooms and bookings.
Most treatments are completed within a day, and you can usually move back in after about 2 hours, unless your technician advises otherwise. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See how our heat treatment works

Local insight
Much of East Sussex’s coast is made up of tall Victorian and Regency houses. In Hastings, St Leonards-on-Sea and Bexhill-on-Sea, many have been converted into flats and bedsits, and bed bugs can pass between them through floor voids, shared walls and old service runs. Hastings Old Town and Rye add timber-framed and listed buildings, where uneven floors and old joinery need careful heating.
Visitors come for the beaches, the South Downs and historic towns such as Lewes, Battle and Rye, and guest houses, B&Bs, holiday cottages and short lets all see a regular turnover of guests and luggage. Newhaven’s ferry to Dieppe brings travellers through the county too, and suitcases are worth checking after any trip.
Inland, the Wealden towns and villages around Uckfield, Crowborough and Heathfield have older cottages, farmhouses and rented homes, many some distance from the nearest town. If you notice bites, blood spots on bedding or dark marks along mattress seams, act early so the problem stays small and quicker to treat.

Pricing
Whole-property bed bug heat treatment in East Sussex starts from £895. The final price depends on the property size and layout and how far the bed bugs have spread, so a seafront flat in Eastbourne, a converted Victorian house in Hastings and a guest house in Bexhill with several bedrooms are each quoted on what is there.
Access plays a part as well: steep streets and limited parking in Hastings Old Town, upper-floor flats without a lift and rural cottages around Lewes all need extra planning, and outlying villages can add travel time. Qualifying treatments carry our 12-week guarantee. See our bed bug treatment prices for details.
Reviews
I hired Thermopest after multiple unsuccessful attempts of having sprays with other companies. They completed the work in a single visit and I have not had an issue since. I personally think its worth the money and wish I had hired them initially. The whole team were helpful from speaking to Gavin on the phone to the team who came out to visit. I would recommend them to anyone having an issue with bed bugs. Thanks again.

Successfully got rid of the bed bug infestation and was good to deal with.

I didn’t end up using the service because when I called, Gavin took the time to talk me through how to check for bed bugs myself. Turns out, it wasn’t bed bugs causing the itching after all.
Every other company we spoke to seemed ready to jump straight into treatment without really assessing the situation, but Gavin was honest and helpful from the start. He shared loads of useful info over the phone, and I’m really grateful for his time. Thanks again!

I was skeptical about heat treatments for bed bug extermination, but Gavin at ThermoPest reassured me every step of the way. I live in a flat in central London, and the infestation was starting to spread to other rooms. The team acted quickly and discreetly, and the results speak for themselves—complete removal in one session.

Pest control in East Sussex is run by the district and borough councils, such as Hastings Borough Council, Rother District Council, Lewes District Council and Wealden District Council. Services vary and can change, so check your own council’s website for its current position. Our guide to council vs private bed bug treatment explains the options.
It depends on your tenancy and when the bed bugs arrived. Landlords are often responsible for an infestation that was there before you moved in or that is spreading through a converted house, so report signs to your landlord or letting agent in writing early. Our guide on what to do if your landlord won’t treat bed bugs sets out the next steps.
Yes. We treat guest houses, B&Bs, holiday cottages and short lets across the East Sussex coast and countryside, and we plan the work around your bookings. We arrive in unmarked vans and advise on which rooms to take out of use and how to check the rooms next door.
Yes. In older houses split into flats, bed bugs can move through floor voids, shared walls and gaps around pipes. When we treat one flat we will advise whether neighbouring flats should be inspected too. Our guide on whether bed bugs can come from neighbours explains more.
No. ThermoPest is based in London and we travel out to homes and businesses across East Sussex, from Hastings and Bexhill to Lewes, Seaford, Newhaven and the Wealden villages. Our technicians bring all the heat treatment equipment with them.
